Last month I aired the final episode of the 10 Things To Tell You podcast.
(If you missed this announcement, I spoke about this decision on my annual birthday episode and then again in the last episode.)
After 6 years and nearly 400 episodes, it was time. A lot has changed since I launched 10 Things To Tell You in 2019, both in the world and in myself. And, actually, within the show format itself. Short episodes gave way to longer ones. Mostly solo episodes morphed into mostly conversations. I got to play with format, short-lived series, and explore all kinds of topics, but the core message remained the same: sharing your stuff will make you less lonely.
10 Things To Tell You also opened the door to my lifelong dream of becoming an author. My first two books were born directly out of the show: Share Your Stuff. I’ll Go First. asks a series of life’s biggest questions and The Life Council: 10 Friends Every Woman Needs delves into my longtime friendship philosophy, a topic that came up over and over again over the years.
I am proud of the work I did in making 10 Things To Tell You and grateful that I got to do it. Thank you for listening, sharing, and engaging with it all this time.
I am also ready to try something new. When I took time off from the podcast in 2022 in order to write The Life Council, I learned that I missed being off mic for too long, so I am already dreaming up what project might be next for me. I have lots of ideas (and am open to hearing yours!) about where to take my voice next, with a few things already brewing. So I’m not viewing the decision to close the weekly 10 Things To Tell You as a goodbye, more as a What’s Next??
(If you’re interested in my recent thoughts on podcasting, I have an episode about the state of the podcasting industry that is a must-listen, and another one about the advice I would give to anyone starting a podcast now.)
But I did want to put together a list of the best of the show as a reference point. This felt like a truly impossible task, since I loved so many of my conversations, but I went with the episodes that are most likely to be listened to well past their original air date.
In the entirety of the 10 Things To Tell You run, the tent pole topics remained the same: Best Books Lately episodes, Favorite Things episodes, and Journal Prompt episodes. (I’m actually wondering if I might move these quarterly to Secret Stuff? I do love sharing books and favorites. These would be in the free feed for all. Stay tuned on that.)
Historically, the episodes that always got the most downloads were those with my real life book club friends Yasmin and Stephanie (like the recent Ep 272: Best Books of the Year So Far), and the beauty and skincare episodes with Jamie Golden (like Ep 192: Obsessed). Those are always fun.
But below are lists of the overall Best Of the show, the most helpful, and my personal favorites. If you missed any of these or want to give them a re-listen, the 10 Things To Tell You feed will remain up in your favorite podcast player.
These are all listened in chronological order and if an episode was ever replayed, I used the replay episode number as it might contain an updated intro.
