Just piping up to say this was such a wonderfully written overview, Colleen! Thank you! This background info has made me more excited to finish the book and meet up to discuss it with everyone! Can't wait!
Ok, this has been a struggle read for me - only 20 to 30 pages a day, where usually I will read a book in a couple of days. I wonder if because I know what is coming I am apprehensive to continue. At the half-way point today and determined to finish by the end of the week. I have so many other books on my TBR shelf.
I get that struggle. I almost always do audio for these longer books because I can make a dent in them while I do other things and I can still read other things!
I watched the movie a long time ago and was thoroughly impressed and horrified. I just finished the book and LOVED it!! So interesting to see the changes made for the movie. The book is (always) better!!
I read The Shining not too long ago so I’m subbing Doctor Sleep in its place. Still really looking forward to the discussion because it always adds so much depth!!!
I hadn’t read the shining before, but I’m loving it. The Kubrick movie is one of my faves . I’m listening to the Shining while reading Broken Country by Clare Keslie Hall. It is an interesting pairing!
When we were in Colorado when I was a kid we visited the Stanley Hotel. Didn’t have the money to stay there of course but it was cool to see it in person knowing the movie.
Red rum
😂🤡
So excited! I just started the book today at my son’s lacrosse state championship tournament. Stephen King summer is my favorite season!
It's my favorite season, too!

The book is always better, but this particular movie is SO famous, we'll definitely be talking about that this month.

Is there a Facebook page?
No, no Facebook this year. Readers can start threads and post comments using the Chat feature here on Substack!
